Home Restoration & Building in Holly Springs, MS

Holly Springs has one of the largest concentrations of antebellum architecture in Mississippi — and restoring it is a different discipline from building new.

Marshall County's historic housing is the reason people move to Holly Springs, and it is unforgiving of bad renovation work. Original millwork, plaster, heart pine floors, and hand-made brick cannot be replaced with anything from a supply house. Our approach on these houses is conservative: stabilize the structure, bring the mechanical systems up to standard, and touch the original fabric as little as the job allows.

That work has a rhythm most builders are not set up for. Materials have to be sourced or matched rather than ordered, some of the trades are specialty rather than general, and the schedule has to absorb the discoveries you only make once a wall is open. We scope historic work with that built in instead of pretending a 150-year-old house will behave like a new one.

Outside the historic district, Marshall County is straightforward custom home country — open land, reasonable lot prices, and an easy run up from Oxford. We build ground-up homes, clear and grade the site beforehand, and handle outbuildings and shops on the same contract.

Frequently asked

Do you have experience with historic homes?

Renovation of older housing stock is a core part of our work across North Mississippi. On historic properties we scope conservatively — structure and mechanical first, original material preserved wherever it can be — and we walk the house with you before quoting so the plan is agreed before anything is opened up.

Will you work with a preservation review or a historic district?

Yes. Where a property is subject to review, we plan the work around it and coordinate the documentation rather than treating it as an obstacle discovered mid-project.
